As the Odisha government completes two years in office, the state leadership has claimed significant achievements across sectors and asserted that the current BJP government has delivered more development in two years than previous governments managed over the past several years. Speaking to the media, a senior minister said that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will brief the media on June 12 regarding the government's development initiatives and achievements. The government claims that a majority of its election promises have already been fulfilled and that more than 300 cabinet decisions have been taken in the interest of the state's development and welfare.
The minister stated that the government has set an ambitious target of making Odisha a leading state by 2036, with continuous support from the Central Government. He also highlighted that under the "Triple Engine Government" model, progress has been made on several key issues, including developments related to the Digha Jagannath Temple controversy and efforts to resolve the long-standing Mahanadi water dispute with Chhattisgarh. Responding to questions on departmental report cards, the minister said that several departments have exceeded their targets during the 2024-26 period. In the Works Department, road construction has reportedly increased from around 6 km per day under the previous government to nearly 14 km per day under the current administration. He further stated that the Law Department is working on legislation to repeal nearly 350 obsolete laws, while the Excise Department has introduced a three-year policy framework aimed at improving transparency and governance. The government is expected to present a detailed account of its achievements and future roadmap during the official two-year completion celebrations.
