Case Filed Against Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bag Over Alleged Remarks on Tribals

Balangir: The troubles for BJP legislators in Odisha appear to be mounting, with yet another MLA facing controversy. After Titilagarh MLA Naveen Jain came under scrutiny over an alleged celebratory firing incident, Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bag has now landed in legal trouble over his alleged remarks against the tribal community. The District Adivasi Welfare Association has lodged a complaint against MLA Laxman Bag at the Titilagarh police station, accusing him of making objectionable comments about tribals during a program aired on a private television channel. According to the complaint, the MLA allegedly referred to tribals as “polluted” or “impure,” remarks that have sparked outrage among members of the tribal community. The association strongly condemned the statement, calling it offensive and derogatory. Members of the association staged a protest outside the police station, raising slogans against the MLA and demanding that a case be registered and legal action initiated against him. They have also sought his arrest. The association warned that if appropriate action is not taken, it would launch a larger agitation in the coming days.The incident has triggered political debate in the region, while all eyes are now on the police response to the complaint and the MLA’s clarification on the allegations.
