Bhubaneswar : Concerns over road safety and the operation of city buses in Bhubaneswar have intensified after an 'Ama Bus' allegedly rammed into a motorcyclist at Sriya Chhak, leaving him critically injured. The victim, identified as Liku Behera, was reportedly waiting at a traffic signal when the accident occurred. According to eyewitnesses, the city bus, which was traveling from Master Canteen towards Nandankanan, crashed into the stationary motorcycle from behind.
"The traffic had stopped at the signal when the bus suddenly hit him. He fell off the bike and was crying out in pain," said a relative of the injured rider. Locals immediately rushed Behera to Capital Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors suspect he may have suffered a serious spinal injury, though his condition is being closely monitored. Following the incident, personnel from Kharvela Nagar Police Station reached the scene, seized the bus, and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. The accident has once again raised questions about the safety standards of public transport services in the capital city. Residents have expressed concern over alleged rash driving, overspeeding, and the increasing number of accidents involving city buses.
