Bhubaneswar: In a major step aimed at strengthening law and order across the state, the Odisha Police Headquarters has assigned 15 senior IPS officers to independently monitor and supervise policing activities in 17 districts. Under the new arrangement, Crime Branch DG Binaytosh Mishra has been given charge of monitoring Balasore and Bhadrak districts, while Special Operations ADG Sanjeeb Panda will oversee Koraput and Rayagada districts. Among other key assignments, ADG Soumendra Priyadarshi has been entrusted with the supervision of Jagatsinghpur, Railways ADG Arun Bothra will monitor Angul, and Law & Order ADG Sanjay Kumar has been assigned Sambalpur district.
Other IPS officers have been allotted one district each for supervision and review. ADG Rajesh Kumar will oversee Nayagarh, ADG Prateek Mohanty will monitor Jajpur, ADG Jitendra Koel has been assigned Kalahandi, and ADG S. Saini will supervise Balangir.
Similarly, IG S. Praveen Kumar has been given charge of Kandhamal, IG Deepak Kumar of Malkangiri, Anup Sahu of Puri, Avinash Kumar of Mayurbhanj, Sarthak Sarangi of Kendrapara, and IG Satish Kumar Gajbhiye of Dhenkanal. The designated officers have been instructed to begin inspections and reviews from July onwards. They will be required to submit detailed reports within 15 days of completing their inspections. The move is being seen as a significant initiative by the Odisha Police Headquarters to improve policing standards, strengthen accountability, and ensure better law-and-order management across the state.
