Orissa claims no 1 spot in investment

Orissa has emerged as the country's number one state in terms of the total amount of investment committed, official sources said quoting a study. While the volume of envisaged projects in Orissa was Rs 5,99,181 crore, ahead of many developed provinces, including Maharashtra and Gujarat, the state also tops the list of places in terms of project implementation.Majority of investment proposals came in aluminium, airport, mines, port, energy, steel, railway and tourism, an official said.                                                                                        More  

Orissa sets up panel to study sixth pay commission report

Orissa government on Saturday constituted a 6-member fitment committee to study recommendations made by the Sixth pay commission before implementing in the state, official sources said. The fitment committee to be headed by the Additional Chief Secretary cum-Development Commissioner R N Bahidar, has been asked to submit its report within three months.The other members of the committee were: Home secretary T K Mishra, Agriculture secretary U P Singh, Water Resource secretary Arabinda Behera, Additional Finance secretary K C Mishra and Finance department special secretary D P Das.            More
