                    Orissa gets 5 new trains in Rail Budget-2009                 

Presenting the third Railway Budget of her career, Mamata Banerjee on Friday delivered the Budget 2009 left passenger fares and freight charges unchanged and dozens of new trains and developing stations as world class stations. Out of the 57 new train services, Orissa got five in its share. The new trains to be introduced are:  Kamakshya – Puri, Koraput –Rourkela via Rayagada, Puri –Bhubaneswar Lokmanya Tilak, Puri – Surat, and Bhubaneswar – Rourkela.                   More

               Police begin search for missing Orissa legislator               

The Orissa police have launched a massive manhunt for the missing state legislator Ramesh Rout who has been missing since June 20 officials said on Friday. Rout, an independent legislator from Athgarh constituency in Cuttack district, went missing after submitting his resignation letter to assembly Speaker Pradip Amat June 20. Although Amat has not yet accepted his resignation, Rout's sudden disappearance has become a matter of intense political debate in the state.                                                                                                 More
