Fake Intel report on Naveen's candidature: Cops summon 3 BJP leaders

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday issued summon notices to three BJP leaders in connection with a fake intelligence report on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's candidature for Hinjili assembly constituency.

The summon notices were issued to Odisha BJP vice president Sameer Mohanty and two other leaders, Golok Mohapatra and Tankadhar Tripathy. They were directed to appear before Kharavel Nagar police at 10 am tomorrow.Earlier, Odisha police had lodged an FIR at Kharvel Nagar police station in connection with the circulation of the fake and fabricated letter in the name of State Intelligence Branch.

Recently, during a press meet the BJP claimed that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is contesting from two Assembly constituencies, Hinjili and Bijepur, as he feared of losing from Hinjili. The saffron party had produced a letter and claimed that based on an Odisha Police Intelligence Branch report Patnaik was warned not to contest from Hinjili due to public anger over lapses in KALIA scheme and post-cyclone relief works.

However, DGP Odisha had dismissed the claims of the BJP and said legal action is being initiated in this regard.'Today a fake document purported to be assessment report of some assembly segments by Odisha Police Intelligence Department is being circulated on social and other media. It is clarified that the document is fake and fabricated,' the top cop had said in a statement.

Following lodging of the complaint, a delegation of BJP yesterday met the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha and demanded stern action against Odisha DGP RP Sharma and Special DG of Police, Intelligence, Sunil Roy.
